Pagtulong Sa Kapwa: Heartfelt Outreach for East Japan

Thank you Honored Guests!

Last June 5, 2011 the Chubu Philippine Friendship Association celebrated it's 27th year event in the form of an outreach for East Japan. As everyone is aware, last March 11, 2011 was the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, which led to thousands of people losing not only material things, but also their loved ones, families and friends. That day was truly a sad day for the whole of Japan.
So even though Nagoya is far from the directly affected areas, we living here, still feel anxious and fearful for the safety and well-being of the people in the Tohoku area. We do believe that Japan can pick itself up, and move on from this disaster to continue to live and hope and dream and to know that in the end, it is in each other that we find most comfort.
This year, CPFA decided to hold this outreach program, instead of the usual Festival, because we hope to help, even in a little way the people who were affected by the earthquake and tsunami. And we know that the relief effort will continue, and we hope to lend a hand, in whatever small way we ca.
The event was attended by representatives from the Aichi Prefectural Government, Nagoya City Hall, and the even the Director of the Nagoya International Center was there. Honorary Consul General to the Philippines Massaki Furukawa also attended the event, along with some of his staff. Dignitaries from the Philippine Government were also there to support the event. We were honored to have Ambassador Manuel Lopez, from the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo accompanied by Vice Consul De Jesus, also from the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, and Vice Consul Imperial, from the Consul General in Osaka was also there. Tourism Attache Araceli Soriano, and Ms Lorelie Cruz, from the Department of Tourism in Osaka were also in attendance. Along with a lot of other guests and participants. It was a wonderful event, and CPFA would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all who attended.

Press Release: CPFA 27th Philippine International Event in Nagoya

CPFA Outreach Event, June 5, 2011

For the past 26 years the Chubu Philippine Friendship Association (CPFA) has been celebrating Fiesta sa Nagoya, an event highlighting cultural exchange between the Philippines and Japan.
This year CPFA again planned for this event, and as early as January 2011, have been conducting planning sessions specifically for the upcoming Fiesta sa Nagoya.
However, in the light of recent events, the start of which was the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami, CPFA saw fit to change the original plan for the Fiesta, and instead to have a gathering more appropriate to the situation.
So this year, instead of our usual Fiesta, we will organize something different.
On CPFA’s 27th year, we will be holding the 27th PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN NAGOYA, PAGTULONG SA KAPWA: HEARTFELT OUTREACH FOR EAST JAPAN. This event will be for the benefit of those affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. This will be a day of gathering together and encouraging each other to give what they can to help the people affected by the calamity.
CPFA Pagtulong sa Kapwa: Heartfelt Outreach for East Japan will be held on June 5, 2011 (Sunday) at the Nagoya International Center, Annex Hall. This event will have similar activities as the previous events, like the Turo-Turo (Philippine Food Bazaar), presentations and a movie showing. This year, there will also be a Panel Discussion on Disaster Management with Prof. Tomohide Atsumi and a Memorial for Fr. Nishimoto, who passed away August 2010.
For this year, entrance will be free of charge, however raffle tickets will be sold for 1,000yen each. The proceeds will go to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami.
CPFA believes in the ability of the Japanese people to pick themselves up from this disaster and believes also that cooperation will help speed up the relief operations. In this light, CPFA would also like to lend a helping hand through this event.
We all hope and pray for the quick recovery of the affected areas, and we hope to help in our small way.
Please join the 27th Philippine International Event in Nagoya, Pagtulong sa Kapwa: Heartfelt Outreach Event for East Japan, and let us work together to help those in need.
